We'd like to say it is an honor to have so many schoolmates attend our reunions. We're very lucky to stay connected with so many after 35 years. We're also very proud and very lucky to still be able to have staff members attend our reunions and have the opportunity to honor them the way we did. One staff member said, "Our class is a cut above the rest when it comes to reunions and that our class really stands out "!
With so many other classes not even having reunions, we had 82 people attended our 35th! We had schoolmates attend from Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, California, Washington, Nevada, Florida, Massachusetts and of course Illinois. It's surprising how we get so many schoolmates to attend from so far away but we're also disappointed that we can't get more schoolmates that live within a 20 mile radius.
Thank you again,
The August 12th Friday night "Ice Breaker" started at 6:30 and was held at Lakes Bowl in Round Lake. We had our own room and Patti O'Keefe (Caroll) brought a wonderful array of cheesecakes and deserts from Eli's for us to snack on during the evening. Around 125 people showed up and many were from other classes. We had two 50/50 reunion fund raising raffles. Many enjoyed a great time as it started a great weekend of fun. The August 13th Saturday night "Beach Bash" started at 6pm and was held in a huge outdoor tent at the Antioch Country Club. The inside of the tent was decorated with palm trees, beach balls, hula girls and more. There were 3 tables set up on the side with old photos of classmates, the school, Fox Lake, grade schools and more. A continuous 45 minute slide show was shown on the ceiling with photos from the yearbook and more. Click here for your copy of the slide show.
Everyone arriving before dinner were greeted by a couple of hula girls. Everyone got into the mood right away by dressing in shorts, sandals, Hawaiian styled shirts, etc. Some even brought beach towels for the "Beach Bash". We had a DJ playing music all evening with some braving the karaoke and the live microphone. Click here to see some photos from the Saturday evening setup!
We sat for a buffet dinner with dessert at 7pm. After dinner, we held a Chinese auction that had great gifts and gag gifts. The gifts were donated by members of the reunion committee. Later, we had everyone turn over their chairs to search for a sticker. The sticker won them one of the reunion decorations to take home. Click here to see some photos from Saturday night.
We had a few special guests. Attending were three staff members, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Loffredo and Mr. Scott. Each of which were brought up to the microphone to honor and have some fun with. All 3 were presented gift certificates in appreciation of showing up. We had many schoolmates from the classes of 1969 & 1971 which helped make the evening more enjoyable. The reunion committee appreciates all the great comments from everyone and let's hope we have as much luck with our 40th reunion in 2010. Make sure to keep visiting our class web site for more photos and information!
